The Wilkin family have been farming at Tiptree, Essex, since 1757, and making quality preserves and spreads there since 1885. They grow a wide range of traditional English fruits and use them to make conserves, condiments, and other treats in their factory by the farm.

Itinerary

From our last departure point the coach will head to Maldon. arriving at 11.15hrs. You will have free time for lunch before the coach transfers you to the 'Tiptree Jam Museum'.

Enjoy a 40 minute guided tractor tour around the Tiptree Fruit Farms where they have been farming since 1757 and making quality preserves since 1885. During the tour you will see tradtional methods combined with cutting edge new technologies in fruit farming.

You will be seated in the 'Tiptree Secret Tea Garden' under a marquee - situated just behind the Tea Room. This is set in the grounds of 'Trewlands', a former farm house of the Wilkin family, and is surrounded by a beautiful walled garden. With its weeping wisteria and traditional English roses we are sure you will enjoy your included Cream Tea in peaceful and relaxing surroundings. 

Once you have finished, you can visit the Tiptree Jam Museum which holds the John Wilkin Collection. It is a great place to trace the history of Wilkin & Sons and Tiptree preserves.  Find out more about village life in Essex and of course all about jam-making. There is also a Jam Shop for all of your Tiptree favourites as well as a range of carefully selected giftware.

The coach will departs at 16.15hrs to head back to the local area.
