Isle of Wight - Alum Bay & Yarmouth

From the local area the coach will head to Lymington for the late morning sailing to Yarmouth. You will have free time in both resorts (your first resort will be Alum Bay before going on to Yarmouth), before the coach heads back to Yarmouth for the return sailing.

ALUM BAY:
As soon as you think about the Isle of Wight, the iconic image of the world famous Needles chairlift immediately springs to mind, transporting guests from the cliff-top above Alum Bay down to the beach below. So, grab a bird’s eye view of the multi-coloured sand cliffs of Alum Bay and the stunning turquoise waters that stretch as far as the eye can see.

We’re about more than fascinating history, stunning geology and fabulous ocean views here at The Needles, although our amazing location at the South Western tip of the Isle of Wight is truly breath-taking and thousands of people visit us each year to explore and discover this wonderful natural landscape, including the famous Needles Rocks & Trinity Lighthouse – the Isle of Wight’s most famous landmark.

With our traditional rides and great value family attractions adding to the experience, you should definitely make a point of visiting; and remember, you only pay to park your car with entry to The Needles being completely free of charge.

YARMOUTH:
Yarmouth town is located on the North-West of the Isle of Wight, and acts as one of the gateways to the Island with one of the main ferry services operating from its harbour.
The historic port town sits at the mouth of the River Yar and contains some of the oldest architecture on the Isle of Wight, including a 16th Century castle.

The harbour at Yarmouth is always very busy with both ferries and smaller boats, and the town itself offers a good variety of things to do for visitors. Yarmouth Castle, which is tucked away to the side of the ferry dock, is also a great place for sea views and family picnics during the warmer months.

There is a road bridge over the river estuary which heads out of the town, and a short distance along is Fort Victoria, a Victorian gun battery which now houses a number of local attractions. It is also set in a beautiful country park, with some spectacular coastline, making it another good spot to explore.

There are a number of pubs and restaurants in Yarmouth if you are looking for somewhere to eat. There is also a licensed café at the foot of Yarmouth pier which is open all year round serving a range of food and refreshments, including locally sourced Minghella Ice Cream.
