Colchester is the former capital of England and it has a rich and varied history that can be explored today through its museums and  ruins. It has particularly strong connections to both its Roman Heritage, and the scars left by the Siege of Colchester during the English Civil War.

In 21st Century Colchester you will find a thriving and expanding town with plenty to keep you entertained for a day, the town has a strong cultural identity, with numerous galleries, theatres and arts venues as well as a bustling town centre with plenty of  restaurants and shopping opportunities.

Itinerary

After joining the coach at your chosen point we head for our destination - Colchester. The drop off point will be on The High Street  The driver will advise you of your expected arrival time after they have left their last local departure point. You will have the day at leisure before the coach departs at 16.15hrs to head back to the local area.

Previously known as Britain’s Oldest Recorded Town, now Britain’s First City, Colchester is a location in Essex that has something to offer everyone. Enjoy great food and drink, exciting attractions, and rich history and heritage in this Roman city.

As Britain’s First City, it’s no surprise that Colchester is steeped in rich history and heritage, with landmarks and attractions to show for it. Delve into the Roman history at Colchester Castle Museum, walk along the beautiful Dutch Quarter of the city, or enjoy the wonderful exhibits on display at the Natural History Museum.
