Summer of Spitfire is a new season of activities centred around the most iconic aircraft ever built. Cosford is home to the world's oldest Spitfire and for summer 2019 only see a Spitfire PR. XIX on display.

Itinerary

 

The Royal Air Force Museum Cosford is located in Shropshire and offers a fun, entertaining day out for all the entire family. Situated next to an active airfield, this is the only place in the Midlands where you can get close to so many breathtaking aircraft for free.

Over 70 aircraft of international importance are housed in three Wartime Hangars and within the National Cold War Exhibition. See the world’s oldest Spitfire and a Lincoln Bomber, just two of the highlights in the Warplanes Collection. In Test Flight, there is the TSR2 and Bristol Type 188 constructed from stainless steel. The Transport Collection in Hangar 1 includes the Comet 1A and Gnat T1, previously used by the Red Arrows. The engine and missile collections total over 60 and are arguably one of the finest collections in the world.

Catering facilities at Cosford include a fully licensed restaurant in the Visitor Centre and café within the National Cold War Exhibition.

Refuel Restaurant offers hot meals from 12.00pm until 2.30pm each day and prices start from just £5.50 for a main meal. There is a fine selection of sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes, soup of the day and cakes to tantalise the taste buds. The fully licensed restaurant has a selection of beverages on sale including Costa Coffee which includes favourites such as the Americano and Cappuccino.

Checkpoint Charlie Café - For light snacks and refreshing drinks, the Check Point Charlie Café is conveniently located deep within the National Cold War Exhibition. Enjoy a refreshment break with a backdrop of a Green Goddess fire engine and the Berlin Hotspot.
