Roald Dahl’s “Matilda” tells the story of the title character – a girl that has been blessed with extraordinary intellect from an early age. Having read all of the books in her house before the age of 5 she proceeds to the local library and reads all the children’s books there, before moving on to school where her intellect continues to give her advantages and disadvantages. Then she discovers another gift – psychokinetic powers – which she is able to use to punish all of those that deserve it. The book was published in 1988, with a film following in 2006 from director Danny DeVito.
