From the local area the coach will travel to Banbury, there will be time here for refreshments (not included) and shopping before heading to 'Bicester Avenue' where there will be free time. The coach will depart 'Bicester Avenue' at 15.30hrs to head back to the local area.
Today, Banbury is a lively town with a thriving commercial core and you'll find charming streets and historic buildings alongside new developments here - such as the Castle Quay Shopping Centre in the recently regenerated Oxford Canal area.
However for many people the first thing that springs to mind when Banbury is mentioned is “Ride a Cock Horse to Banbury Cross”. In fact, the “fine lady” from that beloved nursery rhyme (some say it was Lady Godiva, some say Elizabeth I) is immortalised as a statue in the town centre. As for the Banbury Cross, the original was destroyed in the late 1500s, but a replacement erected in 1859 still stands today.
Tuck into an authentic Banbury Cake – a juicy fruit and pastry delicacy that's rightly famous around the world.
BICESTER AVENUE: Home, garden and leisure shopping centre.
Located just off the A41 near Bicester Village, Bicester Garden Centre started life in 1976 as a tiny nursery and turf field attached to a small landscaping business. It was bought by Blooms of Bressingham in 2000 who significantly expanded it and sowed the seeds of the spectacular centre of today. In April 2007, after a major redesign, it reopened as part of Bicester Avenue, a new concept 'Home and Garden Centre' that has since become a massive success story, attracting literally millions of customers and winning two prestigious retail industry awards in the last few years.
Other retail outlets you may like to visit while in Bicester Avenue are; Laura Ashley, Bonmarche, Lakeland, Roman Originals, Cotton Traders, Pavers Shoes Yankee Candles & Hobbycraft.
