BEXHILL ON SEA:
This elegant resort is the birthplace of British motor racing. It was the 8th Earl De La Warr who secured Bexhill-on-Sea's place in history by hosting Britain's first automobile races on 19 May 1902. The event attracted international attention and was part of a campaign to promote Bexhill-on-Sea as a fashionable new resort.
Bexhill-on-Sea is home to the De La Warr Pavilion, one of the UK’s finest examples of modernist architecture and now a major arts centre and also has a two mile stretch of level promenade and beach to enjoy.
Bexhill Museum is housed in a distinctive building which combines a traditional Edwardian museum with a modern extension. It offers local history, archaeology, fashion and Bexhill's motor heritage collections.
The Colonnade is just one of several fascinating architectural features along the seafront and promenade. You will also see elegant Victorian, Edwardian and Art deco buildings. By the Colonnade, there is a spectacular water feature.
West Parade is Next Wave; a revamped and modernised promenade. Enjoy the play areas, landscaped gardens all with a seaside theme. There's lots of seating, competition winning shelters, views to relax.
The picturesque, tranquil Bexhill Old Town is set inland above the town centre with antique shops and charming architecture.
